The type of smell tells you what to do:

AC Service vs Deep Cleaning: Cost and Difference

A regular service cleans the filters and does a basic check of the unit. A deep clean goes further: the indoor coil, blower wheel and outdoor coil are cleaned thoroughly, so it takes more time and is priced higher. The price depends on:

Split or window, and the tonnage
Indoor only, or indoor plus outdoor unit
How dirty the unit is, and whether mould treatment is needed
Whether it’s a one-time job or part of an AC AMC plan
